My Addiction

Ok guys.  I am super addicted to coffee.  I'm not sure if it's the kind of addiction where I need the caffein in the coffee to keep me going, or if I just really enjoy the taste.  Maybe it's a bit of both...Like, in the morning I feel like I need the coffee to wake up, but after that (unless I am having a horribly tiring day) I won't need the caffein.  Anything after my morning cup of coffee is purely for my own flavor enjoyment.
That said--today I've had four cups of coffee. 1.5 for breakfast.  1.5 for lunch.  1 after dinner.
I have a serious problem.

Best Wishes!

PS: shout out to those of you in Russia who seem to thoroughly enjoy my nerdy-ness (:

Co-Cultures

So tonight I was reading about how to be a good audience member for my public speaking class.  At one point in the book, it mentioned various barriers to effective listening.  The last two were "Co-Cultural Differences" and "Co-Cultural Prejudices."  My immediate reaction was "Oh! Like Dwarves and Elves!"  If that's not nerdy, then I don't know what is.

And One to Rule Them All

First off, sorry to everyone who is reading my blog.  I've been slacking recently and not posting as much as I should.

That said, last week was my Spring Break!  And what do young, typical, college-going women do on their spring breaks?  I'm not sure, because I was studying all break.  Literally, I went to Starbucks every day to work on Calculus, AutoCAD, or my group project that's due in two weeks.  (yay for being an engineering major...? sure.)
However, the bit of fun I did get to have was watching the Lord of the Rings trilogy.  It had been so long since I had last watched it that all I could recollect from the third movie was that Frodo didn't want to throw the ring into the fiery pit of Mordor...that's it.  Pretty pathetic, I say. But it was really fun to be able to watch all three movies and have no idea what was going to happen next.  Next trilogy on the list? Star Wars, of course!  Do any of you readers have a favorite movie/book trilogy?

Best Wishes!

Calculus High

So I was just taking a quiz for my Calculus 1 class, and there was a problem that I thought had me stumped.  I knew I had to get it right--it was the last problem for me to do, and determined whether or not I would get a decent grade.  But I was able to figure it out!! Yay!  Do any of you know the feeling when you figure out a math problem that was kind of difficult? That elation. That total sense of happiness and euphoria. Yup. That's how I'm feeling right now.
I'm on a calc high.

Best Wishes!

ps- for those of you who are curious about the problem, it was:
find the absolute maximum of f(x)=x^a(3-x)^b on the domain [0,3], and where a and b are both positive integers.
